Pack 425 History

About Cub Scout Pack 425

Pack 425 formed about 45 years ago in our current location of Bryans Road, Maryland under the charter support of the Accokeek/Bryans Road Lyons Club. With the exception of a gap between 1997 and 1999, Pack 425 has remained active and strong in the Southern Maryland Cub Scout community. The following are some highlights in our recent history since our reconstitution in 2000:

Service and Education

2002 Spring - First Annual bike rodeo.

2002 Winter – Began a Christmas Adopt-a-Family program for local families in need.

2002 Fall - First Annual Scouting For Food non-perishable food drive for local food pantries.

2004 Fall - First Pack parade (Veteran’s Day – La Plata, MD).

2004 Spring – First time participating in the Potomac River Clean-up.

Membership Milestones

2000 – Began the year with a membership of 28 boys.

2002 – First Pack 425 Family Campout held at Smallwood State Park with a total of 35 people camping.

2005 – Pack 425 Family Campout held at Solomon’s Island Naval Recreation Center with a record total of 180 people

camping!

2004-2005 - With 87 boys registered, Pack 425 swells to the largest Scouting Unit in the District.

Leadership

2004-2006 – Several Pack 425 leaders accepted the call to train new leaders within the District.

2004-2006 – Pack 425 receives “Perfect Attendance” in their participation at District Roundtable monthly meetings

two years running.

Family-First

2001- Pack 425 began a Pony program to include younger siblings into Pack events.

2005 – Pony ranks swelled to 20 active participants.

In 2005, Pack 425 graduated our first class of full-term Cub Scouts into Boy Scouts since our reconstitution in 2000. Come check us out and help us continue to turn the future into timeless memories!
